The prevailing swells in the region arrive from the South Pacific, and due to the orientation of the coastline here, it has much calmer water – most of the time, swells can also come from the North Pacific. That makes it great for keeping a boat on an anchor, and great for snorkelling.

AMENITIES AT OCOTAL

Playa Ocotal is located just a few minutes away from the well known town of Playas del Coco. It is at the end of the road passing through los Cocos and does not attract the attention of the tourists visiting Playas del Cocos. This means that it has easy access to an excellent variety of restaurants, hotels, nightclubs, casinos, bars and many more. Apart from the diverse amount of amenities you get in the nearby town, Playas del Coco also offers you plenty of touristic activities in which you can take part of; scuba diving, snorkeling, canopy, kayaking, fishing, ATV tours, horseback riding. The opportunities are endless in this beautiful zone of Guanacaste. While Ocotal is smaller and quiter than Playas del Coco, it has plenty to offer itself. You can indulge in most of the same activities as Playas del Coco but with a change of scenery, so you can alternate between the areas as you please. The two towns run each other.
